Exciting Afternoons in EYFS ๐Ÿด‍☠️

March 17, 2026

Afternoon sessions in EYFS are designed to allow the children to rewind and revisit previous learning in independent ways to show application of knowledge. It also allows focus to be on other skills like 'building relationships', 'gross motor' and 'fine motor'. All of which are very important in the EYFS curriculum.

This week the children have had the opportunity to improve gross motor by climbing aboard our pirate ship and roleplaying pirates, even making others walk the plank! They have been working on building relationships by using team work to create their own aquarium scenes and helping each other to free sea creatures from the ice using spray bottles.

They have also had the opportunity to rewind and revise their Phonics learning so far by completing code crackers, sorting real and nonsense words buried in the sand into a bin and treasure chest, as well as writing lists.

Children have completed our sentence starter 'I can see...' using our binocular pirate pictures and even written messages to go into the kindly donated bottles.

It is lovely to see the children enjoying activities set and applying their learning when working independently.
