Celebrating inspirational female Scientists in EYFS

March 20, 2025

In Reception we have been learning about inspirational female Scientists as part of Science week and Women's History Month. Today we focused on learning about Mary Anning, a fossil collector and leading palaeontologist of her time. We found out about her significant discoveries as a fossil hunter and we were particularly excited to learn about how she found a skeleton of a Plesiosaurus along with other dinosaur remains. We discussed how she made a huge impact in the field of palaeontology and Science and how she was an inspiration to other women at a time when it was difficult for them to have access to these areas of work.
