In Reception, we have been learning about a new focus artist, Axel Scheffler. The children have enjoyed exploring his style of drawing and were surprised that they had seen many of his illustrations before. Scheffler is well known for working alongside the author, Julia Donaldson, creating lots of well loved characters such as the Gruffalo, Stickman, Superworm and Tiddler. As a part of our learning journey journey, What Lies Beneath, the children have read the story Tiddler. Therefore, it was a fun opportunity to choose their favourite characters from the story and become inspired by Scheffler's style of art. The children focused on our visual element - line, to create lots of different shapes.
