This half term, Y1 have been familiarising themselves with the keyboard and using word processor to insert text on to documents. They started off the half term by looking at a paper copy of a keyboard and finding all the letters in their name. They then moved on to discussing the use of the space bar, caps lock and back space before turning on their chrome books and inserting text using the different tools available on Word Processor.
They explored writing their name and other information initially before creating their own Wanted posters for a teddy bear. This enabled children to begin using the bold feature, changing some text to italic or underlining. They even changed the font type, size and colour! For the final week, the children are going to compare and discuss the differences between using the word processor to create documents and putting pencil to paper.
