Marvellous Mathematicians in the Wrens

 

This week the children have been exploring a few mathematical concepts we have been learning in recent weeks. The children have enjoyed creating their own subtraction number sentences within 10 by shaking and tossing 10 double sided counters. The red side are the burnt sausages we take away and the yellow side are the cooked sausages we have left. We have been working on our understanding of different patterns, sorting real life images and objects into 2D shape categories and creating our own "first, then, now" subtraction stories. The children have been very creative when drawing and writing these number stories. For example, first we had 6 friends at my party, then 2 left to go home, now I have 4 friends left.
