EYFS Water Play

May 21, 2026

Over the past few days, our EYFS children have been making the most of the lovely weather by enjoying water play and exploring a variety of equipment in our outdoor area. The children showed great enthusiasm as they poured, splashed, measured and experimented together, using their imaginations and developing important skills through play.

Water play is a fantastic learning opportunity for Reception children. It helps to develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and early mathematical understanding through concepts such as measuring, filling and comparing. It also encourages communication, teamwork and problem solving as children work together and share ideas during their play.

Most importantly, the children had lots of fun while learning outdoors in the sunshine. We are hopeful that the nice weather continues after the half term break so we can enjoy even more outdoor learning opportunities!
