This week we investigated the question ‘ Which materials make the strongest houses?’ Inspired by the classic story of The Three Little Pigs, we set out to design and build our own houses using everyday materials. The children worked in teams to encourage collaboration, creativity and imagination. Each group used a different material , they discussed their ideas and made predictions before constructing their houses. We encountered lots of great ideas and fantastic problem solving and critical thinking along the way on how to reinforce our structures and make them sturdier. Extra materials included playdoh, bluetac and lots of tape. Great engineering skills Puffins. We used a hairdryer to represent ‘The Big Bad Wolf’ and carefully thought about how to make the test fair. The houses were amazing and with the adaptions withstood the huffing and puffing of The Big Bad Wolf.
