In EYFS this half term our theme is Prehistoric Predators and the children have loved exploring writing a set of instructions for how to grow our own dinosaur. We had shared the story 'How to Grow a Dinosaur' by Caryl Hart and used this text to inspire us and help us generate our own ideas for which dinosaur we would like to grow. We then discussed how to compose a set of instructions, we orally rehearsed what we wanted to write and the children were then able to make super attempts at writing their instructions independently!
