Continuing with their ‘Digital Music’ unit in Computing, Y2 have been busy this week creating music in different ways. We learned about ‘pulse’ and ‘rhythm’ and then the children were asked to use counters, each one representing one of their two musical instruments and create a rhythmic pattern. They worked in pairs to create long sounds and short sounds and listen to the differences.
Following this they then used a computer program to create rhythms using a variety of different instruments. At the end the children were asked to vote on which method they preferred and it’s safe to say they enjoyed the computer program more as there was a bigger variety of sounds and instruments. The children were so involved and enjoyed creating different sounds and thinking about how it made them feel or what they could imagine the music being used for.
