Textiles Artwork in Year 1

April 02, 2025

This half term, the children in Year 1 have been exploring new focus artists, Lauren & Kass Hernandez. Developing their skills using different materials, using a range of techniques including wefting, weaving, knotting and plaiting and exploring what art means to them. Children know that artwork does not have to be perfect and does not have to look the same as everyone else's.

Children explored different coastal scenes and chose their own materials to replicate these landscapes in the style of the Hernandez sisters.

The children enjoyed creating their own weaving landscapes on individual looms boards. As you can see each one is individual and unique - showing that every is an artist!
