Last week we celebrated National Poetry Day 2024 by sharing some of our favourite nursery rhymes and practising identifying rhyming couplets. As this year’s theme is ‘Counting’ and we have been practising different counting strategies and subitising during our Mastering Number sessions, we share wrote a poem as a class by thinking of words that rhyme with numbers 1-5, and showed the correct number of fingers when performing each line of our poems as a class. In Art we painted handprints for our corridor display to show we are all unique but worked together as a team to write some fantastic poems.
