The Wrens have enjoyed diving straight into phonics this week. It has been amazing to watch their confidence grow throughout the week focussing on the sounds s, a, t, and p. We have been practising our robot arms to segment and blend words and the children have tried so hard! On top of all that reading power, we have also been working hard on our fine motor skills and getting comfortable with a proper tripod pencil grip. Writing takes a lot of finger strength and coordination, but the children showed so much patience and focus while practicing how to hold their pencils comfortably as they traced and formed their new letters. They have worked so hard all week long, and they should be immensely proud of their brilliant start to phonics!
