Our first text has been Jack and the Beanstalk, a traditional tale we know the children will love and be familiar with. Across the curriculum we have had many different activities including travelling along benches in ways Jack may have travelled, snipping and using magnifying glasses to inspect different beans, building our own beanstalks using multilink or pipe cleaners and cheerios. The children were also making their own beanstalk and castle scene using green duplo and shaving foam for the clouds along with shaving foam and cut up pool noodles to create a different type of beanstalk. They used chalks to draw their own beanstalks on the floor as well as making puppets and counting the correct number of beans on to different leaves as well as measuring the length of different beanstalks.
The children have enjoyed their learning and we are really seeing their confidence building.
