Y1 Computing

February 26, 2025

Y1 have started their new Computing unit this week by looking at grouping and labelling objects. This will eventually move on to looking at and grouping data and information.

This week, we grouped the children in the class in different ways - gender, hair colour, eye colour, hair length. We then looked at groups of pictures and matched them to the correct labels.

Children were then challenged to go on a hunt around the classroom to find anything that matched their group’s category. This ranged from something yellow to something you can read/ something with numbers on. The children enjoyed hunting around and making piles of objects.

Finally the children were able to sort pictures into the correct category. So far it has come to our attention that some objects can go into more than one group! We are looking forward to what next week brings. Well done Y1.
