Last Friday the Sparrows saw one of our caterpillars turn into a butterfly, they made sure there was food in the netting for over the weekend ready to say goodbye on Monday. There was still one cocoon left, however, on Monday an extra butterfly had not appeared and we were worried the hot weather meant we would not see that butterfly appear so off we went to let our one and only butterfly off to find some new friends. You can imagine how surprised we were when we came back into the classroom after lunchtime and found the butterfly had appeared! Food was provided and Tuesday we then let that one go too! We had some very excited children but also felt sad that our little friends were no longer in the classroom! It has been such a lovely half term learning about different life cycles and watching minibeasts change.
The Sparrows say bye bye to the butterflies 🦋
