This week we have introduced independent reading sessions in the afternoon. We have had quiet focus and big smiles as the children chose their own books, turned the pages at their own pace, and explored stories all by themselves. From spotting familiar pictures to pointing out letters they recognise, watching them build confidence as independent readers has fantastic.
At this stage, reading for pleasure is all about sparking imagination and creating a lifelong love of books. Whether they were "reading" the pictures, retelling a favorite story from memory, or simply sharing a quiet moment with a book in their hands, our Wrens have shown us just how much they love story time.
