Woodpeckers- History of the Teddy Bear

January 11, 2024
This week the Woodpeckers have continued to step back in time to observe the changes in childhood over the course of history. We looked at the very first ‘furry bear’ designed and created by Richard Steiff in 1903. It was through American president Theodore Roosevelt’s passion for them that in 1906 it was officially called ‘The Teddy Bear’. We decided to get our pastels out and put our artistic skills to use to draw our own favourite Teddy Bears!
